Description
Although this is based on doodles of a little dancing demon I did a long time ago, I think I can attribute my renewed interest in doing something with this design to my recent obsession with Das Ich, hence the title, which I took from one of their songs [it means (the) soul dances]. He reminds me of Bruno Kramm with those horns, heh. I guess he's a little demon or damned soul or something who's really not altogether unhappy to be in hell. He looks like he's having a good ol' time there to me.
This is cast aluminum and measures 9 inches tall by 8 inches wide. I made the original pattern from Sculpey clay, and my husband cast it in our homebuilt foundry (which is fueled by 100% used Taco Bell grease, by the way). I had to make special considerations for the casting process when designing this; I wanted to do the eyes a little differently, for example, but I had to make them so they'd pull out of the mould without breaking the sand. I guess you could say this is my first real "product," since it's the first thing I've designed for our foundry and I'll be selling them if I can.
